Substation Connectors

Partalum substation connectors are the compression-type and mechanical (bolted) fittings that join rigid busbar, equipment and conductor inside a substation of up to 400 KV. The line covers ACSR, ACSS - ACCC (high temperature), AS, MCM copper, ACAR conductor and aluminum IPS tube, with CFE conformity and NEMA 2N–8N bolt pattern.

Applications

Where are substation connectors used?

Partalum substation connectors are used inside the substation to assemble the IPS tubular rigid busbar, connect the conductor to equipment (breakers, disconnect switches, transformers), support busbar or conductor on a base insulator, and connect to autotransformer terminals, at levels of up to 400 KV.

Rigid busbar

Assembly and connection of aluminum IPS tubular busbar with coupling, elbow, reducer and cap.

Substation equipment

Connection of conductor to breakers, disconnect switches and transformers with NEMA terminal lugs.

Insulator support

Support of busbar or conductor on a base insulator, in 3" and 5" heights.

Autotransformer

Connection to autotransformer terminals with smooth- or threaded-stud terminals.

High-temperature runs

Connection of high-temperature ACSS conductor in substations of up to 400 KV.

Materials & standards

What are they made of and which standards do they meet?

Substation connectors are made mainly of extruded and alloy aluminum for efficient electrical conduction. Terminal lugs carry a NEMA 2N–8N bolt pattern, and the whole line is designed to conform with CFE specifications.

FAQ

What engineering asks about this line.

What voltage level do Partalum substation connectors cover?

They cover substations of up to 400 KV, including the high-temperature ACSS line for runs of greater thermal capacity.

What NEMA plate do the terminal lugs use?

Compression-type terminal lugs are made with a NEMA bolt pattern in 2N to 8N, in straight and 90° versions, to connect conductor cable.

Are there accessories for aluminum IPS tubular busbar?

Yes. The line includes IPS tube accessories —coupling, elbow, reducer and cap— to assemble rigid aluminum busbar in a substation.
