Standards & compliance

In Mexico, substation and transmission fittings and connectors are governed by CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) specifications and NMX-ANCE standards (issued by ANCE). Every Partalum product declares its reference standard and its mechanical strength in KN, in a range of 80 to 480 KN.

Bodies & systems

What is each standard body and system?

Two systems define the compliance of an electrical fitting or connector in Mexico: the CFE buyer specification and the NMX-ANCE Mexican standards.

CFE Buyer specification

Federal Electricity Commission (CFE)

A productive enterprise of the Mexican state and the main operator of the national electrical grid. CFE issues technical specifications (e.g. CFE 2C301-15, CFE 55000) that a connector or fitting must meet to be installed on its transmission, substation and distribution infrastructure.

NMX-ANCE Mexican standard

Normalization and Certification Association (ANCE)

ANCE is the Mexican body that develops and certifies electrical-sector standards. NMX-J-…-ANCE standards are voluntary Mexican reference standards (NMX) for electrical fittings and connectors, cited alongside CFE specifications.

Mechanical strength

Mechanical strength: 80–480 KN.

Mechanical strength is expressed in KN (kilonewton) and is the load the fitting or assembly withstands without failure. Partalum products cover 80 to 480 KN depending on the application and voltage level; each piece declares its reference value.

  1. 80 KN
  2. 111 KN
  3. 133 KN
  4. 160 KN
  5. 200 KN
  6. 320 KN

FAQ

Standards, compliance and mechanical strength.

What standards apply to high-voltage electrical connectors and fittings in Mexico?

In Mexico they are governed by CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) specifications and Mexican NMX-ANCE standards issued by ANCE. Every Partalum product declares its reference standard and its mechanical strength in KN.

Is Partalum certified or does it declare compliance?

Partalum declares compliance of its products with the reference specification (CFE or NMX-ANCE). Compliance means the product is designed and manufactured against that specification; we do not claim ISO or IEEE certifications. For specific records, contact us with the required specification.

What does mechanical strength in KN mean?

KN (kilonewton) expresses the mechanical load the fitting or assembly withstands. Partalum products cover a range of 80 to 480 KN depending on the application and voltage level, declared per piece.
